Psalm 103:8
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
When we are to give the character of a man, we reckon his meekness and his passion, his good-nature and his ill-nature, to be the most considerable and distinguishing parts of it. God's goodness is his glory. He is ready to forgive. He is a God of pardons. That is his name, his nature. Nothing is more his nature than to be merciful. And he is slow to anger, not soon, not easily provoked, but ready to show mercy to those who have offended him, and to be reconciled to them. He is plenteous in mercy, he is rich in mercy; the springs of mercy are inexhaustible, and the streams of it are innumerable.
--Matthew Henry, *Commentary on the Whole Bible*
The nature of God is to always have an abundance of love andaglory. Everything is measured by the great sacrifice of the Son of God. His nature is a nature of agape love that is prepared to give and give and give. The bedrock of our Christian faith is the unmerited, fathomless, wondrous love of God, and it is a love that has been demonstrated in a way that staggers our minds. The love of God is not a sentiment, it is the very heart of the God who is.

John of Damascus, *An Exposition of the Orthodox Faith*, circa 730 AD. A systematic theologian of the Eastern church, he summarized the writings of the Church Fathers before him.
“He is the creator of all things, and he provides for all things. He is the beginning and the cause of all good. He is without beginning, and is eternal, and is endless, and is immortal. He is uncreated, unchangeable, and invisible. He is good, and just, and omnipotent. He is all-powerful, and all-seeing, and all-containing, and all-ruling.”
Do not be cast down. Do not despair. Do not be over-anxious. Place all your trust in God. Commit your way to Him. He will not desert you.
--Thomas à Kempis, *The Imitation of Christ*
Do I treat others with the grace God offers me, or do I hold them to a standard of justice I could never meet myself?
I begin to speak only when I am certain what I’ll say isn’t better left unsaid.
